Last season Barcelona knocked out Manchester City in the last 16 stage of the Champions League, now the two sides meet again at the same stage, starting with the first leg at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday. Last year Barcelona won 4-1 on aggregate and now they are in the last 16 for the 11th consecutive year. For Manchester City this will be only the second appearance at this stage of the competition.
The Citizens had to fight hard in order to get past the group stage but their last victories over Bayern Munich and Roma proved them worthy of going through. Manchester City have lost just one of their previous five matches at home against Spanish opposition. Barcelona are aiming for their eighth consecutive presence in the quarter finals. They have lost at PSG in the group stage but eventually finished top of Group F after taking revenge on the French champions at Camp Nou.
Barcelona have won 11 of their last 12 matches in all competitions but last weekend they suffered a shock home defeat at the hands of Malaga. Manchester City will be without Yaya Toure, who is suspended, while James Milner is an injury doubt. New signing Wilfried Bony will probably have to wait some more time for his first presence in the starting eleven as Edin Dzeko scored twice this weekend during the 5-0 win over Newcastle. It might be a special match for Luis Suarez as this will be his first game in England after leaving Liverpool last summer.

I dont agree with you kruno1414.I dont expect a great match in Spain.I think Barcelona are by far better team than City.They will win that match easily.I expect a two or three goal difference win by Catalans.I dont see a way for City to avoid defeat at Camp Nou.They have no chance to get through to the quarter finals.

I forgot to say that I am surprised that Lionel Messi missed a penalty and a great chance after it.This is not something that happens every day.On the other side,Suarez put again in a classsy performance.He showed agains he is one fo the best palyers in the world.Two goals in this stage of competition is a success.

Barcelona showed that they are capable of winning a trophy in this seasons Champions League campaign.City was ruined by Barcas attacking power.Messi .Neymar and Suarez are .on the paper.one of the best attacking trios in history of football.They can make a history together.

Manchester Citys failure in Europe continue for years now and all the millions or billions that they spend to build this team, don't achieve a satisfying results at least in Europe for now. Well, this is gonna be fine remake of last seasons duel between Manchester City and Barcelona. Both teams are placed second in their leagues, both Premier League and La Primera. Tight game, with City attacking at the most part of the 1st half. If they don't manage to score, or even worse - play with goal disadvantage they are gonna get nervous. Hope that doesn't happend. Ideal situation would be 3:1 for City, which leaves an open matchup for game two weeks from now.
