Back Premier League: Chelsea players try to influence referees, says Roberto Martinez

Everton boss Roberto Martinez accused Chelsea's players of trying to influence the referee's decisions during the 1-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday. Willian scored the winning goal on 89 minutes after Gareth Barry was sent off. Branislav Ivanovic might have deserved a similar punishment after a clash with James McCarthy.

"It's very clear that what the home team are trying to do is influence the referee," Martinez said after the match. Mourinho didn't want to discuss the subject during the post-game interview. Barry was sent off after being shown a yellow card for a trip on Willian, while Ivanovic locked his arm around McCarthy's neck but escaped unpunished.

"To give Barry a second yellow just because of the reaction of the Chelsea players, that is disappointing," Roberto Martinez said. "You don't want to believe that that decision is given because of the reaction of the players. It's something that we constantly see here. We have to allow the authorities to look into it. Ivanovic's behaviour is wrong. He grabs McCarthy around his neck in a very forceful manner, then puts his head against him. James McCarthy doesn't react a single bit. If you want to be on top of the law, that's a red card and we got nothing out of that moment."

Chelsea are currently 1/8 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title while Everton are 80/1 to get relegated this season.
