Tennis: Novak Djokovic eases into Australian Open semi finals

Four-time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic did a quick job in overcoming the big serving Milos Raonic to reach the semi-finals. The current world number one ended the match in triumph after just one hour and 55 minutes of play: 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 6-2. This will be the 25th Grand Slam semi final for Djokovic, who is looking to win his eighth major title. The semi final will see Djokovic face defending champion Stan Wawrinka for the third consecutive edition of the tournament.

Raonic had a strong track record in the tournament before the quarter final, having served 99 aces and having dropped his serve just twice in four matches. Djokovic had an answer to that though, his return gave the Canadian much more problems than he was prepared to handle. Djokovic has been broken just once in the entire tournament so far.

Djokovic will play his fifth Australian semi-final against Stan Wawrinka, who defeated Kei Nishikori in straight sets in the quarter finals. The Serb has beaten Wawrinka 19 times before while the Swiss reigning champion beat Djokovic on three occasions. Last year they met in the Australian Open quarter finals and back then Wawrinka won the thrilling match, winning the decisive set 9-7.

Here are the odds for the semi final at Bet365:

Novak Djokovic win - 1/6
Stan Wawrinka win - 4/1

What a good player is Novak. I watched this match against Milos Raonic and I must say that Djokovic played perfect tennis this morning. He definitely neutralized Raonic's stronger "weapon", service. He returned that services so well. I'm fan of Djokovic and I'll be very happy if he wins Australian Open for the fifth time in his career.

A lot of talks lately about Milos Raonic and how good player he is but when you face someone from the top players in tennis like Djokovich he really didn't look that good. Nole seems to be in great shape both mentally and physically so I guess he is a number 1 favourite for the title.

Novak Djokovic is great player, at the moment he is best player on the world, but I just think that he have a lot of luck. He have a lot of luck because he don't have any player to beat him. Roger Federer is too old and Nadal have problems with injuries and in this situation Djokovic is favorite for Australian open. I think that both Nadal and Federer are better players and have more quality than Djokovic but they just don't have luck. But of course I don't say that Djokovic is bad player, he is best player on the world at this moment and well done on that.

Djokovic played very well against Raonic. But to be honest Raonic had a bad day yesterday. The serbian will have a harder match against Wawrinka. I wouldn't be surprised if Wawrinka would win he is in a very good form and if my informations are correct Djokovicc got cold. But I am sure that Murray will win the Australian Open.

Novak Djokovic now has a clear path to another title on Australian open. Djokovic is great player, big warrior and fighter and he deserve to win on this tournament. I just can't see who can stop him and that is not because injury of Nadal or something but because Djokovic is the best player on the world. We saw in last couple years Djokovic playing in finals against healthy Nadal and win and that is proof that Djokovic is better on this kind of pitch. Well done Djokovic, I know that this is only start of the year but I think that you will be number one at the end, just like last year :)

Novak Djokovic is the best player now. But we saw that Nadal isn't ready for Australian open, and Fededer isn't good this year. Raonic is very good player, and his serve is great, but Novak is better. I'm a big fan of him. Next match will be hard for him, Stan Wawrinka is complete player too. Wish him a lot of luck, Nole can win that game!

I saw today this semi final against Stan Wawrinka. I was surprised how Stan was playing. He was great but that is because Novak Djokovic wasn't on his level. He was passive for first four sets but in last set we saw explosion of Djokovic. He was playing with 100% end we saw it when he was leading 5-0 in last set and still fight for every single points. He claimed that in final he can't play like this if he want to win and that is true, I hope that he will play better and win this Grand Slam.

Djokovic is champion of Australian open. I think that it was clear from the start of tournament. He is in best form and he is best player at the moment. This can be his year and I think that he will be favorite on every tournament even on Roland Garos and this year he must take opportunity and try to finally win Roland Garos.

Djokovic is ultimately the best player in the world right now. He is in great form, and I don't believe that his place on ATP list this season will remain on the top of it. I saw that Nadal and Federer this season has lot of problems, Nadal lost first semifinal on the clay in last 12 years, and after injury he can't find his form. Real rival of Djokovic could be only Marrey.
