Former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes will join Manchester United on a free transfer. He has been training with the Red Devils in order to recover from a very bad knee injury that kept him out of contention for the World Cup. The Spanish international has agreed an 18-month contract.
Valdes, aged 32, won six La Liga and three Champions League titles with Barcelona. He left the club at the end of last season when his contract expired. Valdes' arrival might mean that reserve goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard might leave the Red Devils. First-choice goalkeeper David De Gea, aged 24, will most likely keep his place between the sticks but his contract will expire in 2016.
Manchester United are currently third in the Premier League, nine points behind joint leaders Chelsea and Manchester City. De Gea has played in every match for the Red Devils this season but conceded four goals in the shock League Cup defeat at MK Dons in August and five in the Premier League loss to Leicester on 21 September. Lindegaard has made just 19 Premier League appearances since joining the club in 2011.
Manchester United are 20/1 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title this season.

I really don't know what is he doing at United, but one thing is for sure. He will not play lot of matches beside De Gea, who is in the great form, and I think that Valdes made wrong decision. He could find club with CL ambitions where he will had main role in the team, but in United he will be only reserve

I read this comment and I just say one thing to elvisbektasevic. - We can compare Casillas and Valdes - are you crazy... I don't mean to offend you but Casillas is way better goalkeeper than Victor Valdes will ever be. Casillas is a legend of Real madrid, he won two champions league and a lot of other trophy and for the most of this trophies he was key player. Casillas is best goalkeeper ever.

My first thought when I heard about this transfer was, United don't need another goalkeeper but when I think again this is a good transfer especially that Valdez comes with a free transfer. For shore he won't be a first choice for Van Gaal but will be able to help with hes expirience to both other Gk's. And you never know...

Really bad injury for Victor in a bad moment. Knee injury is the worst and I hope to be fully recovered. Maybe this is not good move, because Manchester already has a great goalkeeper. But De Gea ill be able to learn a lot near more experienced than yourself/

I agree with timidi and elvisbaktasevic. I really don't understand why Manchester United signed Victor Valdes. He is out of form very long time and I think that "his time has passed". He is really good goalkeeper but in my opinion he is far from world-class goalkeeper. Anyway I can say that maybe Johnny is right, he might...

Anyway I can say that maybe Johnny is right, he might teach some things to De Gea because De Gea is young and his time should come and he might be one of the best goalkeepers in the feature.

I think De Gea could learn from Valdes, it's a very good signing in my view.

You're not right TIMIDI, Manchester really need goalkeeper like Viktor Valdes. He is old that;s true but he has knowledge and he is ready for everything, i'm not his fun but i just tell what he can. Bad luck and injure stop his wonderful series of saves. We can compare Valdes and Casillas, but De Gea is far away of them....

I don't know why Manchester united sign victor valdes. They have great goalkeeper David De Gea and I think that Victor Valdes is worse than him. And Valdes is old to be reserve goalkeeper, I think they should sign some youth goalkeeper to learn from David and maybe one day to replace De Gea on goal.
