West Ham striker Diafra Sakho won't be a part of Senegal's final Africa Cup of Nations squad due to a back injury. "Sakho is not on the list of 23 players, his back problem is even preventing him from moving," head coach Alain Giresse announced. The 25-year-old forward will be replaced by Pape Moussa Konate, aged 21, who plays for Sion in Switzerland.
Sakho has a good season so far at West Ham, scoring eight Premier League goals so far. The latest recurrence of the back injury appeared when he had to come off against West Bromwich Albion after scoring a goal in the 1-1 league draw on 1 January. Sam Allardyce, his manager at the Hammers, claims his injury was "mistreated" when he was on international duty with Senegal in November.
Senegal head coach Alain Giresse has not yet made his final 23-man squad list for the Nations Cup public. The squad travels to Morocco on Wednesday for the final preparations ahead of the Nations Cup in Equatorial Guinea, which starts on 17 January. Senegal have two friendly matches set up ahead of the tournament, against Gabon on 9 January and against Guinea four days later.
Senegal are 12/1 at Bet365 to win the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, while favourites Ivory Coast are 4/1 to win it.

This year West ham plays great and Diafra Sakho is important part of this team. He will be great for Senegal but I think that his goal is to recover and play for West ham as soon as possible. So I think that he will be back in great form and continue to play great for West Ham and Senegal will try to do their best without...

Diafra Sakho was brilliant for West Ham in the season so far and obviously hes injury will be a great hit not only for hes club but for Senegal's national team too. Sam Allardyce complaints about how they treated hes injuries in Senegal are maybe true but for shore busy schedule at Premier league doesn't help too.
