Premier League: Gary Lineker defends Arsenal boss

Gary Lineker has criticised supporters who booed Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger last weekend. This video on YouTube shows Wenger being jeered by fans when boarding a train following Arsenal's 3-2 Premier League defeat at Stoke City on Saturday.

"Just saw the Wenger abuse video," former England striker Gary Lineker said on Twitter. "Disgustingly disrespectful and totally inexcusable, regardless of any football results." The video also shows a fan giving some heartfelt advice to young striker Joel Campbell: 'Joely, do the best thing mate! Get out while you can, Joel!'

Arsenal had a terrible first half at Stoke, they were 3-0 down before fighting back to 3-2. Wenger was also criticised by the fans during Arsenal's 1-0 at West Brom last week as some Gunners supporters displayed a banner that read: "Arsene, thanks for the memories but it's time to say goodbye."

Arsenal ended a run of nine years without a trophy by winning the FA Cup in May but they have not won the league since 2004 and are currently sixth in the Premier League table. The Gunners are currently 66/1 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title this season.

I support Wenger at any cause. He always had good sence for finding young talented players. I'm sending critics for such behave by Arsenal fans. They should remember what Arsen did for them in past decade(s). Tottaly inappropriate for man like this. Respect for Gary Lineker, great star of the past times, and congrats for supporting Wenger. Well maybe Arsenal is having bad times at the moment, but this ain't deffinetly the way to say goodbye to mr Wenger.

I don't think that this is nice and I think that Arsenal fans don't appreciate what Arsen do for this team. They are one of the greatest clubs of England and Arsen keep them on top all this years. If it time for changes I think that it must be another way than this. All fans of Arsenal should be shame because of this behavior. I think that Arsen will stay at club and proof all them that they are wrong

I don't know why fans are so upset. Last night Arsenal won against Galata and they are qualified for next round of champions league... in premier league they are little worse but it is still time to get better and I think that Arsene will find way to get back Arsenal in top 4 teams in premier league. Wenger is Legend and legends don't deserve this.

Arsene Wenger lead Arsenal all these years and the so called "fans" booed at him; he always finds great young players and makes them into even better players. Thumbs up to Gary for defending him although Wenger shouldnt have even been in the bad light since he does so much good for the Arsenal team. Really sad to see someone who has been in the team since 1996 booed at.

It's time to see new manager Arsenal's bench. He bring lot of glory to Arsenal, he is hard working man, but Gunners needs a tropheys. Supporters are not interested in investment and they are ready to watch their club on the hill even, if he got titles. Unfortunately, I believe that Wenger can't understand this
