Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel has agreed to sign a three-year contract with Ferrari following Fernando Alonso's departure from the Italian team. The German will leave Red Bull and the announcement was made just a few minutes after Alonso's exit was confirmed. Two-time world champion Alonso is expected to join McLaren.
"When I was a kid Michael Schumacher in the red car was my greatest idol. It's an incredible honour to get the chance to drive a Ferrari," said Vettel. "It was a difficult decision to take, but a carefully considered one from start to finish," said Alonso. "My love for Ferrari was a prime consideration."
Vettel will team up with former world champion Kimi Raikkonen at Ferrari. "Scuderia Ferrari has decided to put its faith in the youngest multiple champion in the history of Formula 1," said team boss Marco Mattiacci. "Sebastian Vettel is a unique combination of youthfulness and experience. He brings with him that sense of team spirit which will prove invaluable when, together with Kimi, they tackle the challenges awaiting us, as we aim to be front runners again as soon as possible." Ferrari last won the world drivers' title in 2007, when Raikkonen won it in his first season with the Italian team.
The current season has just one more race to run, with Lewis Hamilton battling Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg for the title at this weekend's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton is 5/6 at Bet365 to win the race while Nico Rosberg is 6/5 to claim victory this weekend.

Vettel is going to do a great job at Ferrari if technical team build better vehicle for next season. This year they weren't at their best, but team with name like Ferrari should bounce back quickly. Vettel is very good driver, he is young and there is still much to come for him and his team in future.
Wow this is huge. It was about time that Ferrari gets back on track, being top contender once again. I mean, since Mihael's days they didn't really do anything significant. Hope Vettel does well.
this is great news for Ferrari. I am a big fan of ferrari and I hope that next year finaly ferrari will be competitive with mercedes and red bull. I don't know what is going on with kimis contract but I hope that ferrari can keep him for next season. But first we should see what will happen tomorow on last race of season and see who will be champion :)
We just saw that Hamilton is new world champion in Formula 1. Congratulation to him it was deserved. And now I think if Mercedes and Hamilton extend contract and continue to work like this I think that they will be so dominant next year too. But I hope that ferrari and vettel could do something and try yo be at least competetive. I can't wait until next season to see what will happen :)
Congratulations for Hamilton first. And I think that he will extend his contract with mercedes and he is first favourite to win championship next year. Ferrari trying to get back in race for championship but I thik that Vettel won't change anything. In ferrari problem isn't in drivers, this year they had kimi and alonso and it is hard to have two better drivers in same team and they were bad. So ferrari need to change a lot of things and mercedes should just continue with this system and they will win next year easy.
Ferrari desperately needs to get back on the path of success. Vettlel is the right choice. They need someone who is going to awake sleeping giant. Ferrari is wandering past few seasons but from this point, they are going to be unstoppable. The era with Schumaher is going to repeat, and Vettel is going to write many more history pages.
I think that Formula 1 is so unfair sport. I think that no metter how great driver you can be if you are in wrong team you cant do anything. Hamilton is great driver but I can telll you at least five other drivers who are better. And for me Vettel is product of great red bull team and for me he isn't great driver. Of course that he have some skills but for me he is over rated. Kimi is the best in F1.
This is a good move for Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari. After the poor last season that change will motivate the four time world champion for a better performance. On the other hand Fernando Alonso needed a change himself and I think joining McLaren is a right move for him and hes ambitions for the future.
And Vettel and Alonso are true champions, but I believe that Vettel can only benefit Ferrari team. Fresh new start in this team is expected in this season and after first test in reds team, they have a lot a reasons to be satisfied. Vettel and Kimi can back the glory which one were surrounding Ferrari team earlier. I believe in this team in next season, but we will have to wait to see
