Back Primera Liga: David Moyes named Real Sociedad manager

Former Manchester United and Everton manager David Moyes has been named as the new head coach of Spanish top-flight club Real Sociedad. The 51-year-old manager was without a job since he was sacked as United manager in April after just 10 months in charge. Moyes replaces Jagoba Arrasate, who was fired by Sociedad after a poor run of form which led the team to 15th place in the Primera Liga table.

Moyes has signed a contract until June 2016 and will take charge for the first time when Sociedad face Deportivo away from home on 22 November. The club announced the appointment on Monday in a statement on their official website: "Real Sociedad have reached an agreement with David Moyes. Details about the official presentation of Real Sociedad's new coach and who will form part of his technical team will be published tomorrow morning."

Moyes recently said in a BBC interview that he was waiting for the right offer did not rule out a job in Europe. "It is something that we don't report enough - British managers outside the shores," he said. "It will actually help the development of coaches where you can come back and give a bit back to them - tell them the experience you have had working in Spain, Italy, Germany or wherever it may be."

Real Sociedad are 14/1 at Bet365 to get relegated from the Primera Liga this season.
