Back Premier League: Newcastle United vs Liverpool preview

Newcastle will be looking to continue their revival when they face Liverpool at home on Saturday. Two weeks ago Newcastle manager Alan Pardew seemed very close to getting sacked but the Magpies grabbed three consecutive wins and the mood has changed at St James' Park. First they defeated Leicester City and Tottenham in the Premier League and then produced the upset at Manchester City on Wednesday in the Capital One Cup. Newcastle can move to just one point behind Liverpool in the league table if they win on Saturday.

Liverpool are happy that Mario Balotelli finally scored his first goal for the club, a goal which fueled the comeback against Swansea City in the League Cup on Tuesday. The Italian striker will most likely feature in the starting eleven on Saturday as Daniel Sturridge is still injured.

Newcastle will be without Papiss Cisse and Siem de Jong, both injured while Davide Santon also remains out. Liverpool have won 11 of the last 16 Premier League meetings with Newcastle.

Probable starting line-ups:

Newcastle: Krul - Janmaat, Taylor, Coloccini, Dummett - Anita, Colback; - Gouffran, Sissoko, Ameobi - Perez

Liverpool: Mignolet - Johnson, Skrtel, Lovren, Moreno - Gerrard, Henderson, Allen - Lallana, Sterling, Balotelli

My prediction: 1-1 draw.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Newcastle win - 14/5 Draw - 11/4 Liverpool win - 1/1
