Back Premier League: Liverpool vs Hull City preview

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has several question marks that could be answered on Saturday when the Reds play host to Hull City in the Premier League. Liverpool had big problems in defence so far, keeping just one clean sheet in twelve games. They were defeated 3-0 by Real Madrid in midweek after having beaten QPR 3-2 last weekend thanks to some late drama. The problems are obvious at the other end of the pitch as well, where Mario Balotelli has failed to score for his new club so far.

Rodgers doesn't have many options to replace Balotelli as Daniel Sturridge is injured. Adam Lallana could feature while Mamadou Sakho and Jon Flanagan will surely miss out in defence. The Tigers on the other hand are just three points behind the Reds in the league table after securing a prestigious 2-2 draw at Arsenal last weekend. That result came at a cost though as Nikica Jelavic, Michael Dawson and Steve Harper all got injured during that match.

Third-choice goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic will start between the sticks, while Steve Bruce could send in his son Alex Bruce in place of Dawson. Hull have never managed to win on 11 previous trips to Anfield and were beaten 2-0 last season.

Probable starting line-ups:

Liverpool: Mignolet - Johnson, Skrtel, Lovren, Moreno - Gerrard, Henderson - Lallana, Coutinho, Sterling - Balotelli

Hull: Jakupovic - Figueroa, Bruce, Chester, Davies - Elmohamady, Livermore, Huddlestone, Diame, Robertson - Hernandez

My prediction: Liverpool to win 2-1.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Liverpool win - 4/9 Draw - 15/4 Hull win - 7/1
