Formula 1: Title battle not over, says Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton says he does not feel he has one hand of the Formula 1 world championship title, fight despite recording his biggest lead so far this season. Hamilton is now 17 points ahead of fellow Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg after claiming his ninth win of the season last Sunday.

"It is very positive to have the points and be finishing ahead of Nico but history's shown this year that the gap can never be enough," Hamilton said. "The most important thing is what the gap is at the end of the year." Rosberg has won just four races this season but he's still within one win (25 points) of Hamilton. There are a maximum of 100 points available in the remaining three races: USA, Brazil and Abu Dhabi. Double points will be awarded at the final event of the season.

After Sunday's Russian Grand Prix win Hamilton said: "Nothing changes. I have to keep fighting and pushing as hard as I have been until now. If I can bring any more, then I will. There is never a comfortable feeling. I don't think I ever did have a comfortable feeling when I was in a championship fight ever in my life. It's tense all the way to the end and this is a championship that is going to go to the end. I just hope that the future is bright in these next few races."

The next race is the USA Grand Prix on November 2nd, here are the outright win odds at Bet365:

Lewis Hamilton - 8/13
Nico Rosberg - 9/4
Valtteri Bottas - 11/1
Daniel Ricciardo - 16/1
Felipe Massa - 25/1

That's correct, title battlse is not over. His form is excellent, but Nico, in my opinion, still have a enough chances to win this championshim, and I hope that he will win. I'm dissapointed with ferrari result this year, I expected too much from duo Alonso-Kimi, but they are just drivers-veterans, and their time is over.

I think that he said that only becouse he must say that. for team. But wee all know that is small chanse to Nico beat him. They driving same car and they are domineted and it will be easy for hamilton to save first place becouse no other driver can beat him and he can't lose a lot of points. So I can say now congratulation Hamilton :)

I think it polite to say, and that is fine gesture from his side, but I think it is over. Nico has no chance this year, cause after ''russian triumph'' he has wings. three races left, but for me its its only about enjoying in watching hamilton finishing victory

I agree with you galata86, he said that because that's polite and that's sport spirit, he deserved that title, he is great this season, I expected more from Sebastian Vettel... Nico Rosberg is nice suprise for me this season, I thougt that Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton will be fighting for title, but Fernando and Sebastian are not so good this yea... Good job Hamiltion :)

He is right, because Formula 1 is a really specific competition where even if you have only theoretical chances to win,you must continue to fight till the ned, cause there are always possibilities of incredible comebacks .We have seen a lot of comebacks in formula 1 history, for example Lauda vs Hunt in 1976 Formula 1 is a proof that everybody must fight till the end.

Lewis Hamilton is back. After bad seasons behind him, he is on the right track to win one more championship tittle. This year Mercedes is much better team than other competitors, like Ferrari for so long. But Nico Rosberg is very good driver and he will not give up till the end. Now, time will show who of this teammates will win championship tittle.
