New Paddy Power Chief Exec Supports Australian In-Play Betting Reform
Andy McCue, the new Paddy Power chief executive as of January 1, 2015, will support his Sportsbet Australia team's lobbying efforts to change Australian digital gambling laws regarding in-play betting. "One of the clear observations from the Australian market is you can't bet in-play digitally, which is something of an oddity," McCue said in an interview with The Australian Financial Review Weekend. Cormac Barry, who oversees Sportsbet Australia, expects in-play betting regulations to take center stage with politicians with the Cricket World Cup and the AFC Asian Cup coming to Australia in 2015. In-play betting is legal via call centers or retail locations; however it's illegal to place bets online or using a mobile device.
