Back Primera Liga: Valencia vs Atletico Madrid match preview

Unbeaten Valencia have the chance to prove that they can be strong enough to compete with the three giants of Spanish football when they face reigning champions Atletico Madrid on Saturday. Nuno Espirito Santo's team have made a great start to the season, going six matches unbeaten in the league. Valencia are currently second in the Primera Liga table.

Atletico will surely threaten the home side's unbeaten record as coach Diego Simeone is starting to see his players return to their best form. Atletico are on their own unbeaten run and are level on points with Valencia before the match. The Spanish champions grabbed a solid 1-0 win over Italian champions Juventus in the Champions League this week. A win for Atletico at Valencia would put further pressure on current league leaders Barcelona.

There might be just one change for Atletico compared to the Juventus match, with Antoine Griezmann in line to replace Saul Niguez. Valencia's coach Santo will most likely field the same starting eleven that played last week against Real Sociedad.

Probable starting line-ups:

Valencia: Alves - Mustafi, Otamendi, Barragan, Fuego - Gaya, Gomes, Parejo, Rodrigo, Gil - Alcacer

Atletico: Moya - Juanfran, Miranda, Godin, Ansaldi - Tiago, Koke, Griezmann, Garcia, Turan - Mandzukic

My prediction: Atletico to win 2-1.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Valencia win - 7/4 Draw - 11/5 Atletico win - 8/5
