Back Serie A: Napoli vs Palermo preview

Napoli will be desperate to secure their second win of the new Serie A season when they face struggling Palermo on Wednesday evening. Rafael Benitez and his men were defeated 1-0 at Udinese last weekend, a result that left them in a dreadful 15th place in the league table. Jorginho and Giandomenico Mesto will most likely miss the match after having also missed the weekend match with muscular problems while Maurizio Domizzi and Simone Scuffet remain sidelined.

Palermo are still looking for their first Serie A win of the season after having secured two draws and a loss so far. That run leaves them 16th in the table, just below Napoli. However, Palermo did grab a prestigious 1-1 draw with Inter Milan last weekend, a remarkable result considering they were without quite a few injured players.

Enzo Maresca could make his return for Palermo on Wednesday but Giancarlo Gonzalez, Ezequiel Munoz and Francesco della Rocca are expected to remain sidelined. The last time these two sides met, in the 2012-2013 season, Napoli recorded two 3-0 wins over Palermo, who got relegated at the end of that campaign.

Probable starting line-ups:

Napoli: Rafael - Maggio, Albiol, Koulibaly, Britos - Lopez, Gargano, Zuniga - Michu, Insigne, Higuain

Palermo: Sorrentino - Andelkovic, Terzi, Feddal, Morganella - Bolzoni, Rigoni, Barreto, Lazaar, Vazquez - Dybala

My prediction: Napoli to win 2-1.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Napoli win - 4/9 Draw - 10/3 Palermo win - 6/1
