The imminent launch of the new watchdog founded by William Hill, Ladbrokes, Coral and Paddy Power has been named.
The name, The Senet Group, is named after Senet, and Ancient Egyptian game of chance.
The group is expected to be up and running to full capacity by January 2015, and will do its own test purchasing to ensure that operators comply industry standards.
Its independent Standards Commissioner will be selected based on Nolan Principles, developed by the Committee on Standards in Public Life. The candidate will display selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.
On Monday, Carl Leaver, group CEO of Gala Coral said, “Actions speak louder than words. That's why the Senet Group will be given the independence, budget and purpose to hold the betting industry to account.”
