Real Madrid have signed World Cup Golden Boot winner James Rodriguez from French Ligue 1 club Monaco. The 23-year-old Colombian player has signed a six-year deal at the Bernabeu. The reported fee was around 80million euros, making Rodriguez the fourth most expensive transfer of all time after Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez. Rodriguez scored six goals in five matches at the World Cup as Colombia reached the quarter-finals.
He scored against Greece, Ivory Coast and Japan as they won Group C before scoring two goals during the 2-0 last-16 win against Uruguay. One of his goals in that match, on a superb volley, was later voted goal of the tournament. His last World Cup goal was a late consolation from the penalty spot as Colombia lost 2-1 to Brazil.
The former Porto forward won the Portuguese league three years in a row before joining Monaco last season, where he scored a modest nine goals in 34 Ligue 1 games. Monaco vice-chairman Vadim Vasilyev said they had no plans to sell Rodriguez, but were proud to be part of "one of the most significant transfers in football history". Vasilyev said: "The time came when the solution of a transfer was considered to be the most beneficial solution for all parties." Rodriguez's signing comes a few days after Real Madrid signed German World Cup winner Toni Kroos from Bayern Munich for an undisclosed fee.
Real Madrid are 5/6 at Bet365 to win the Primera Liga title next season.

He was absolutely fantastic in the world cup, it's great seeing all these players who performed at the WC2014 getting signed by the big teams, I wonder how much the Mexican keeper is worth now..
