Back World Cup: Germany vs Ghana preview

Germany will all but secure qualification for the last 16 of the World Cup if they defeat Ghana in Fortaleza on Saturday. The Germans breezed past Portugal on Monday, with a bit of help from Pepe who got send off in the first half. They won the match 4-0 and if they repeat that performance against Ghana the top spot in the group will most likely be theirs.

Coach Joachim Low will most likely field the same team, with Thomas Mueller looking to add more goals to his tally after a hat-trick in the opening match. Ghana have never failed to reach the knockout stage in their previous two World Cup presences, but this time things seem a lot more difficult. They can't afford a defeat against Germany after having lost to the USA on Monday due to a late goal from John Brooks. Coach Akwasi Appiah will probably field the same eleven despite losing the opening match but he might choose to send in Michael Essien right away.

The probable starting line-ups:

Germany: Neuer - Boateng, Howedes, Mertesacker, Hummels - Lahm, Khedira, Kroos, Ozil, Gotze - Muller

Ghana: Larsen Kwarasey - Opare, Asamoah, Boye, Mensah - Muntari, Atsu, Rabiu, J.Ayew, A.Ayew - Gyan

My prediction: Germany to win 3-1

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Germany win - 3/10 Draw - 5/1 Ghana win - 10/1
