Aston Villa have completed the signing of former England midfielder Joe Cole on a two-year contract. The 32-year-old former international, who won 56 caps for the Three Lions, was available on a free transfer after being released by Premier League side West Ham in May.
Cole said: "This is a massive club and there's a massive opportunity for the club to push on. I've been lucky enough to have a really good career, but there's still a lot more I want to achieve." Cole has also played for Chelsea, Liverpool and was also on loan in France at Lille.
Manager Paul Lambert has already completed another free transfer this summer, that of former Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos from Valencia.
Aston Villa are 11/4 at Bet365 to get relegated from the Premier League next season.
