Premier League: Liverpool set to sign Emre Can
Liverpool have agreed a deal with German side Bayer Leverkusen to sign Under-21 international midfielder Emre Can. The 20-year-old central midfielder had a £10m release clause in his contract and Liverpool have met that figure. The deal is set to go through, it's just a matter of paperwork now. The player is of Turkish descent and can also be employed as a central defender. Leverkusen bought him last summer from Bayern Munich for 4 million pounds. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers was impressed with Can's athleticism and combativeness during a season which saw Leverkusen finish fourth in the Bundesliga. Liverpool have already signed Southampton's Rickie Lambert and Emre Can's arrival might mean that the Reds would give up on signing Adam Lallana, also from the Saints. The Reds are 13/2 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title next season.
