Premier League: Douglas Costa will join Chelsea
Spain striker Diego Costa has passed a medical at Chelsea and the stage is set for his £32m transfer from Atletico Madrid to go through. Chelsea met the buyout clause in the 25-year-old forward's contract with Atletico and the player will now negotiate personal terms. Costa scored an impressive 36 goals in 52 games for Atletico this season as they won their first La Liga title since 1996 and reached the Champions League final. The forward was born in Brazil but he chose to represent Spain at the 2014 World Cup. Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho said in May that he was looking to bring in a "killer" striker and this move should be exactly what he was hoping for. The Blues scored 71 goals in the Premier League this season, 31 fewer than champions Manchester City. Moreover, strikers Samuel Eto'o, Fernando Torres and Demba Ba contributed just 19 of those in the league, with 33-year-old Eto'o scoring nine of them. Costa scored 27 goals in La Liga and only finished third behind Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo (31) and Barcelona's Lionel Messi (28) on the list of top goalscorers. He also found the back of the net against Chelseain the semi-finals of the Champions League. Chelsea are 9/4 at Bet365 to win the Premier League next season.
