Minnesota Man Charged with Running Illegal Online Gambling Operation
According to the Bismark Tribune, 60-year-old Gerald Greenfield of Minnesota has been indicted the federal grand jury for allegedly offering illegal sports betting in North Dakota via websites in Costa Rica. The indictment says that Greenfield operated for four years starting in 2007 and generated $10 million each year in bets with estimated profits of $500,000 and $600,000. Greenfield also faces charges for illegally transmitting betting information and money laundering. He has a prior criminal record including a conviction for mortgage fraud and escaping from a federal prison where he was to serve 4 years in 2013.
