Back UEFA Champions League: Bayern Munich vs Manchester United preview

Manchester United will have to win at trophy holders Bayern Munich on Wednesday if they want to advance to the semi finals, a result that would salvage their poor season. Bayern have already secured the Bundesliga title as opposed to Manchester United who are seventh in the Premier League at the moment. Manchester United held Bayern to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford last week, a good result for David Moyes and his team considering the strength of the opponent.

Bayern are the favourites to qualify though as Bastian Schweinsteiger scored to make it all square last week after Nemanja Vidic had put Manchester United ahead. Schweinsteiger is suspended for the match as he was sent off at Old Trafford. Experienced left back Patrice Evra believes that his side could follow in the footsteps of Chelsea who won the Champions League in 2012 despite finishing sixth in the Premier League.

"It was funny because all season reminded me of the Chelsea season they won the Champions League when they were not playing well in the league," Evra said. "I am not saying we are going to do the same but sometimes you have to be positive, so why not? Of course it is unusual for us to say we can save our season in one game. Now we must make sure the fans will be proud for the second leg against Bayern." The German champions lost 1-0 at Augsburg on Saturday, a result that ended the club's record 53-match unbeaten run in the Bundesliga.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Bayern Munich win - 2/7 Draw - 11/2 Manchester United win - 10/1
