A decision from the Supreme Court regarding New Jersey's appeal to eliminate the federal Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) has been postponed as major sports leagues and the US Department of Justice were given an extension to until May 14, 2014 to present their case.
New Jersey sought to legalize intrastate sports betting despite PASPA's restrictions limiting it to four states.
Those opposing the rule include the Department of Justice and the national sports leagues who missed the deadlines and required an extension.
New Jersey may not have an answer until September in terms of whether or not its case will go on the Supreme Court schedule.
