Manager David Moyes says Manchester United are full of confidence ahead of Tuesday's derby with Manchester City at Old Trafford after the Red Devils secured two consecutive wins. United beat Olympiakos to advance to the Champions League quarter finals before snatching a 2-0 a West Ham. City, who were knocked out of the Champions League, would move just three points behind leaders Chelsea if they win at Old Trafford. The Citizens have won the reverse fixture 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium in September.
"We'll go into our next game confident and ready to get a result," said Moyes. The derby is United's first league game back at Old Trafford since they were beaten 3-0 by Liverpool on 16 March. But United bounced back after that shameful defeat to beat Olympiakos and West Ham. Wayne Rooney had a crucial contribution at Upton Park, scoring a spectacular lob before also bagging the second goal of the match. "For Wayne to notice the goalkeeper was out of his box when the ball was played up to him, it was just a great piece of skill, great ability and the execution was fantastic," added Moyes. "We were excellent against West Ham and the only disappointment was we didn't score more."
"It was a nice goal and it put us 1-0 up," Rooney said about his finish from just inside the West Ham half. "I remember Beckham's goal, it was one of the most iconic goals in Premier League history. That was a great strike but they are two different goals. His was on the floor, mine was on the volley." About the derby with City, Rooney added: "It's an exciting game and hopefully we'll get the result."
