Tennis: Andy Murray will no longer work with Ivan Lendl
British number one Andy Murray says it will be very difficult for him to find a new coach as good as Ivan Lendl. Murray and Lendl announced on Wednesday that their partnership has come to an end after more than two years of working together. Under Lendl's guidance Murray won the 2012 US Open, an Olympic gold medal and Wimbledon last year. "Ivan's a very hard person to replace," said Murray. "You don't replace his sort of experience easily. We sat down Saturday evening, we went and had dinner, chatted for an hour about other stuff and then we chatted about us moving forward. That had been planned for a few weeks. We planned to sit down when I got to Miami to discuss moving forward. The best thing to do was just to move on. It's a tough one for me because he has been a big part of my life. He has been a big part of my team. He made a huge difference to my tennis." Murray has dropped to number six in the world after having back surgery in September. He had started working with Lendl in December 2011 and he admits that the coach had a great influence on his game. "The thing that he was brought in to do was to help me get over the line in the big events," said Murray. "That's what he did. As to what improvements he made to my game, I don't think it's how I hit the ball or how I hit certain shots is that relevant. My game was there. It was the mental side - dealing with those pressure situations - that he was there to help with. That was the biggest influence he had." Murray is currently playing at the ATP 1000 Masters in Miami, he is 12/1 to win the tournament at Bet365.
