Russian Premier League: Andre Villas-Boas wants title with Zenit
New Zenit St Petersburg boss Andre Villas-Boas has set his sights on winning the Russian Premier League right away. The 36-year-old Portuguese manager was sacked by Tottenham in December and signed the deal with Zenit earlier this week. Zenit are three points behind Russian Premier League leaders Lokomotiv Moscow with nine games left in the season. "My goal is to bring Zenit to the top," Villas-Boas said. The former head coach at Zenit, Italian Luciano Spalletti, was sacked earlier in March after a poor run of just one win out of eleven matches. The new head coach is confident that the title can still be won, more so considering that they will have a direct clash with Lokomotiv Moscow in May. "The first step is to win the Russian league," he said. "That's the main thing now. "If we win all nine matches, Zenit will be champions. My goal is to bring Zenit to the top. That's what I want to do." He added: "To be honest, there was no difficulty in taking this decision for me, because Zenit is a well-known club in Europe. The ideas that led to this decision suit my own ideas about football. This is an important step for me, that suits my ideas, and my career." Here are the outright title odds for the Russian Premier League at Bet365: Zenit - 11/8 Lokomotiv Moscow - 6/4 Spartak Moscow - 9/2 CSKA Moscow - 10/1 Dinamo Moscow - 14/1
