Russian Bookmaker Under Investigation for Illegal Activity

Russian prosecutors and police are investigation Russian bookmaker FON based on claims that the company is offering illegal online gambling services. FON has approximately 900 retail outlets across the country making it among the largest bookmakers in Russia. The RIA Novosti agency reported an online gambling website focused on Russian players although it's being run out of the Netherlands. “This website, accessible to every Internet user, provided an opportunity to engage in games of chance for real money and offered various bets, including on sporting events,” said prosecutors in a statement. The website is said to have generated 62 million rubles ($1.7 million) in revenue in June and July 2013.
