Rain Postpones NASCAR Season Opening Race
Sunday's Daytona 500 was placed on hold at 38 laps due to rain. It rained on the parade of NASCAR's season-opening race at Daytona International Speedway at 2:12 p.m. EST; however the race was back on after just over 6 hours. When the rain came, Kyle Busch was in the lead with Kasey Kahne, Denny Hamlin and Brian Vickers. There was to be 200 laps around the 2.5-mile speedway. Car #78 driven by Martin Truex Jr. had to forfeit the race after the car's engine blew on Lap 31. Positions of some popular drivers included Austin Dillon in 10th, Jeff Gordon in 7th, Dale Earnhardt Jr. in 18th, Danica Patrick was 33rd, Tony Stewart was 34th and previous Daytona 500 winner Jimmie Johnson was 38th.
