Premier League: Jose Mourinho attacks Arsene Wenger
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is a "specialist in failure", that is what Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho said. The Portuguese manager, well-known for his mind games and ability to put pressure on his opponents, responded to Arsene Wenger's statement that the Premier League title is now "Chelsea's to lose". The Blues are at the top of the table, one point clear of the Gunners, with Manchester City another two points back but with a game in hand. It's true that Arsenal under the guidance of Arsene Wenger have not won a trophy since 2005 and Mourinho said: "Eight years without a piece of silverware, that's failure." The Portuguese manager won the Premier League twice in his first spell as Chelsea manager and has also won league titles in four different countries as well as the Champions League with Porto and Inter. When asked why managers like Mourinho are playing down their title chances, Wenger said: "It's a fear to fail. If you're not in the race you cannot lose it, if you declare yourself not in the race you cannot lose it, simple as that." Wenger's last trophy was the FA Cup in 2005, and Mourinho says his current employers would not tolerate such a long silverware drought. "He is a specialist in failure," said Mourinho. "I'm not. So if he is right and I am afraid of failure it is because I didn't fail many times. The reality is he's a specialist because eight years without a piece of silverware, that's failure. If I do that in Chelsea, eight years, I leave and don't come back." Chelsea are 13/8 to win the Premier League this season at Bet365, top favourites Manchester City are 11/10 while Arsenal are now 10/1 to win the title this season.
