Premier League: Darren Fletcher targets top-four finish for Manchester United
Midfielder Darren Fletcher says Manchester United still have plenty to play for despite the troublesome season and is convinced that the club will be able to qualify for the Champions League with a top-four finish. Manchester United are currently seventh in the league table, seven points behind fourth-placed Liverpool. "It's all about character now no doubt about it," Fletcher said. "The team has been written off, everyone has had so much to say about the situation and it's now time for the players to step up and prove people wrong and to finish the season strongly. It's the biggest club in the world and as soon as you are not up to a level it's like the end of the world - but every defeat is like that. We're experiencing that now and sometimes you need those moments to appreciate the success. "Proving people wrong is always important. I think you've got to use this as a fuel. In football you've always got to look for that edge and hopefully the players can do that", the Scotland midfielder added. "The squad is definitely capable of a top four finish this season. We have to go on a run, there's no doubt about that. As I keep saying let's finish the season strongly, get in the Champions League - we're still in the Champions League this season as well and our form has been fantastic - and let's carry that through to next season." If Fletcher would be willing to bet on that then he'd be in for nice winnings as the odds at Bet365 for Manchester United to finish in the top four are at 3/1. Liverpool on the other hand are 8/13 to finish inside the top four.
