Premier League: Manchester United prepare record bid for Juan Mata
According to the Daily Telegraph under pressure Manchester United boss David Moyes is ready to offer Chelsea around £37 million for 25-year-old Spain international Juan Mata. Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has stated that he does not want Mata to leave during the January transfer window but the Spanish midfielder would welcome a move to a club that would play him on a regular basis thus boosting his chances to feature in next summer's World Cup. Jose Mourinho preferred to play either Oscar, Eden Hazard or Willian instead of Mata this season. Mata has not made an appearance for Chelsea since he showed his frustration at being substituted during the victory over Southampton on New Year's Day. United have not made an official bid yet but sources claim there have been some discussions between intermediaries in order to find out whether the deal could be done or not. If Mata is signed it would be a new transfer record for United, beating the 2008 move when they paid Tottenham Hotspur £30.7  million for striker Dimitar Berbatov. Mata was signed by Chelsea in August 2011 with the club paying Valencia £23.5 million and has won the club's player of the year award for the past two seasons. He has struggled to adapt to the style of play that Mourinho demands and it's almost certain that the player will leave either in January or June. Other big European clubs are also interested in securing the services of Juan Mata, here are the odds at SkyBet for a transfer before February 1st: Manchester United - 8/11 Atletico Madrid - 8/1 PSG - 12/1 Bayern Munich - 20/1 Napoli - 20/1
