In-form Manchester City face West Ham in the first leg of the Capital One Cup semi final, the match will be played at Etihad Stadium on Wednesday. The Citizens will miss Jesus Navas as the Spaniard has been ruled out with a knee injury. Sergio Aguero and Micah Richards are back in training but they are not yet ready to play for the first team. West Ham have much worse injury problems, missing lots of players including Winston Reid and Andy Carroll. They will also be without captain Kevin Nolan as he is banned. “It's a disaster at the moment, a total disaster and in certain areas we've not been able to cope”, said West Ham boss Sam Allardyce.
West Ham manager Sam Allardyce will put Roger Johnson straight into his squad after the defender signed on loan from Wolves for the rest of the season. Last weekend West Ham suffered a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Championship club Nottingham Forest. There is speculation that Allardyce was set to lose his job but for now he has the backing of Hammers' co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan.
West Ham have never won the League Cup and it seems they can't win it this year either since it would take a half-miracle for them to get past City. The Citizens are unstoppable at home this season and have scored an amazing 53 goals in 14 matches at the Etihad since the start of the campaign.
