Rodman Loses Paddy Power Sponsorship
The news that former American basketball star Dennis Rodman and North Korea's dictator Kim Jong-un worked to Paddy Power's advantage when Rodman last paid him a visit but this time was different. Paddy Power has announced that it will not be sponsoring Rodman any longer saying the marketing team “...got this one wrong." We saw Rodman back in North Korea last week to settle plans for a basketball demonstration involving 11 other former NBA players traveling to Pyongyang in 2014 for Kim Jong-un's birthday although some of the players may have concerns about making the trip to the country. Paddy Power issued a statement via the Associated Press: “Given changed circumstances, Paddy Power has decided to withdraw its association with the Dennis Rodman basketball initiative in North Korea. “This isn't a financial decision. We'll be honouring all our contractual commitments to Dennis and his team. "We've reviewed the project, and with the benefit of hindsight, we've recognised we've got this one wrong. “Because of this, we have decided to remove our name from the event.”
