Champions League: Bayern break consecutive wins record
Bayern Munich moved closer to securing top spot in Group D with a record-breaking 10 successive Champions League wins after defeating CSKA Moscow on Wednesday. Arjen Robben opened the scoring before Mario Gotze bagged a sensational second. Keisuke Honda brought CSKA back into the game by converting a penalty kick but Thomas Muller secured the three points also from the penalty spot. The Champions League holders needed just 17 minutes to break the deadlock as Muller swept down the left flank and cut the ball back for Robben, who fired it in first-time. CSKA could have brought it on level terms before the break but they squandered three good chances to score. First Ahmed Musa fired a weak shot from a good position, then Honda was denied by goalkeeper Manuel Neuer when one-on-one before firing over from six yards out. Bayern punished them 11 minutes after the break when Mario Gotze weaved past three defenders before firing a perfect shot into the bottom corner. CSKA clawed one back when Honda scored from the spot but Bayern struck back just three minutes later as Muller converted a penalty kick. CSKA went close again through Zoran Tosic who smashed one against the woodwork. Bayern Munich are the top favourites to win the competition at Bet365, they are 5/2 to grab the trophy again while Barcelona are 9/2 and Real Madrid 5/1.
