World Cup: Cameroon reach their seventh finals
Cameroon secured their place at the 2014 World Cup after recording a crushing win over Tunisia, 4-1 in Yaounde. Last month's first leg in Tunisia ended goalless but this time Cameroon took no prisoners: Pierre Webo gave the hosts the perfect start, then Benjamin Moukandjo doubled the lead in the first half, before Tunisia substitute Ahmed Akaichi brought his team back into the match with a fine volley. Jean Makoun bagged a late double to send Cameroon to their seventh World Cup, a new record for an African nation. Cameroon took the lead after just four minutes when a mix-up in the Tunisian defence allowed Webo to fire a left-footed missile past the goalkeeper. Moez Ben Cherifia, the Tunisian keeper, was beaten again when Moukandjo scored on the half hour. The visitors had a chance to reply immediately but Syan Ben Youssef headed well over from a great position. Tunisia made two changes at the break and they paid off as they cut the deficit just five minutes into the second half when Akaichi volleyed past the goalkeeper. There was no second goal for Tunisia though as Cameroon struck back with the help of the visiting defence. Jean Makoun headed home the third and then also bagged the fourth to send his nation to the World Cup. Cameroon are 300/1 to win next year's World Cup at Bet365, while Ghana seem the strongest African nation as their odds to win the World Cup are 125/1.
