Gerrard and Walker to miss England vs Chile
Roy Hodgson's injury worries ahead of the friendly match against Chile are getting worse as both Steven Gerrard, who has a hip injury, and Kyle Walker are out of the friendly after being forced to miss training today. Daniel Sturridge also has a foot complaint while Michael Carrick and Danny Welbeck pulled out of the squad through injury. Frank Lampard, the top choice to replace Gerrard as captain, is also struggling with a cold. Jack Wilshere could replace Gerrard in the middle of the pitch while Phil Jones could be another option. Jordan Henderson, Tom Cleverley and new call-up Adam Lallana are also in the mix. Southampton striker Rickie Lambert is hoping to impress during the Chile friendly and establish himself in the England team before next year's World Cup. "This is another opportunity to impress, without a doubt," Lambert said. Southampton team-mates Adam Lallana and Jay Rodriguez were also called up and Lambers is sure that they can play well for England. "In training I will try to continue to impress and if I get a chance on Friday or Tuesday, whether I am starting or coming on as a sub, I will be determined to do well." Lambert added: "They deserve to be there, the way they have performed. All the English lads in the Southampton team have done well but especially Adam and Jay. I hope there are openings for them and I am sure they will get a cap sooner or later." Here are the odds at Bet365 for England vs Chile: England win - 10/11 Draw - 12/5 Chile win - 3/1
