Premier League: Robin Van Persie sinks Arsenal
Dutch striker Robin van Persie punished his former club once again, scoring the winning goal for Manchester United in the clash with Premier League leaders Arsenal at Old Trafford. Van Persie also managed to score for United against Arsenal in both games last season after his £24m move from the Emirates to Old Trafford. This time he gave United a very important three points with a perfect header in the 27th-minute header from Wayne Rooney's corner. The first half didn't offer much entertainment apart from the goal, Arsenal didn't seem very inspired while Manchester United were unwilling to take any risks. Arsenal tried to step up after the interval as Wenger replaced Flamini with Jack Wilshere but it was Rooney who had another chance for United, escaping Sagna at the edge of the area before firing wide. Arsenal were dominating possession and David Moyes sent in veteran Giggs for Kagawa while Wenger sent in Bendtner for Cazorla. The Gunners were still unable to create chances though and Chris Smalling came close to doubling the lead for United when he headed wide from Van Persie's free kick. Arsenal finally came close in the dying seconds of the match but Bendtner came inches away from pushing Sagna's cross into the back of the net. Arsenal remain top of the table with 25 points while Manchester United are now fifth with 20 points. Arsenal are 10/3 to win the title at Bet365 while defending champions Manchester United are 9/2 to retain the crown for a second consecutive season.
