Sven-Goran Eriksson: England won't win the World Cup
Former England supremo Sven-Goran Eriksson has written off the team's chances of winning the 2014 World Cup. The 65-year-old Swedish manager, now a big-money coach in China, led England to the World Cup quarter-finals in 2002 and 2006. He said: "I don't believe they can win the World Cup in Brazil. Maybe in Russia in 2018. I think it's easier to win it there than in Brazil". England booked their place at the World Cup by winning their qualifying group but they are not among the top eight seeds for the final tournament, with the group stage draw taking place on 6 December. No European side have won the competition when it has been held in South America. Eriksson believes another run to the last eight in Brazil would be a good achievement for current manager Roy Hodgson. "Expectation does not seem to be what it was in the past and I think that's very good for the team," said Eriksson. "The quarter-finals would be very good." England are 20/1 at Bet365 to win the 2014 World Cup, while the top five favourites are as follows: Brazil - 10/3 Argentina - 5/1 Germany - 5/1 Spain - 11/2 Belgium - 14/1
