Mark Sanchez intends to return as New York Jets' starting quarterback this season.
Due to a shoulder injury, Sanchez was is out of the game for the next 8 weeks.
"As far as making a decision that's best for the team and best for my medical health, we're all on the same page," Sanchez said during a conference call. "I'll come back, hopefully, in eight weeks and be ready to play."
Sanchez was injured while standing in for rookie Geno Smith during a preseason game against the Giants. He has chosen not to have surgery but to rehabilitate his shoulder and doctors are pleased by his rehabilitation so far.
"They've said, `Hey, you're doing the right thing,'" Sanchez said. "So, unless everybody is lying and everybody has it out to get me, I think we're OK."
The injury makes Sanchez's future with the team unclear.
"Absolutely, I'm a Jet," Sanchez said. "I've been a Jet since Day 1, and I don't plan on doing anything else. I'm focused on this rehab and getting ready to play."
