Jets Let Brady Quinn Go

Jets Let Brady Quinn Go
The New York Jets let go Brady Quinn making starter Geno Smith and Matt Simms the team's only two quarterbacks as they face the season opening game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It is being reported that the team has plans to re-sign Quinn next week. Saturday's decision to release Quinn was not surprising because coach Rex Ryan chooses not to have more than two quarterbacks on hand for active games plus Quinn's salary was not guaranteed by the move. Saturday at 4pm was the deadline for the guarantee of NFL veterans' salaries. Due to Mark Sanchez's shoulder injury, he was out unable to play and Quinn joined the Jets on Monday to ensure that veteran presence at the position. After an impressive training camp, linebacker Danny Lansanah moved up from the practice squad; however he has not been part of an NFL season game since 2009.
