Premier League: Liverpool sign Mamadou Sakho and Tiago Ilori
Liverpool have signed central defenders Mamadou Sakho and Tiago Ilori for a combined fee of 25 million pounds. Sakho is 23 years old and already has 14 caps for France. He joins from Paris Saint Germain for around 18 million pounds. Ilori, aged 20, has represented Portugal at youth level but is eligible to play for England as he was born in London. Sakho told the club's website: "I came here because the project that is in place at Liverpool interests me. I'm really looking forward to playing my first game." Mamadou Sakho can play either in the centre of defence or at left-back. Ilori said: "Liverpool have a great team and I think it's the place for me to be at the moment. There have been some great teams here in the past and the club has won a lot of trophies and I want to be a part of it." Brendan Rodgers has signed no less than seven players this summer following the captures of Kolo Toure, Iago Aspas, Luis Alberto, Simon Mignolet and Aly Cissokho. Liverpool had a great start to the season, grabbing three wins out of three, including a massive 1-0 success against rivals Manchester United on Sunday. Their 100% start impressed the bookmakers, the Reds are currently 12/1 to win the Premier League title at Bet365 while defending champions Manchester United are 4/1 to retain the crown.
