Churchill Downs Adds to Staff to Support Online Gambling
US based Churchill Downs may be looking to add an additional fifty employees to its staff due to the impact of online gambling and the pay is more than $100,000 a year. The Louisville, Kentucky based casino and racetrack was granted approval by the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority for $1 million in tax incentives to add to staff as part of a $4 million expansion. Bob Evans, Churchill Downs CEO and president says that the area of need is the IT department and the number of additional employees will be dependent on wider online gambling legalization on state and federal levels. Interstate online gambling on horse racing is legal as part of a separate federal law that affects Churchill's TwinSpires.com and simulcasting. Churchill Downs also applied and received a license as an online poker operator in Nevada. Last year, the company launched Luckity.com which is a mobile and online gaming site that offers prizes with results linked to horse races.
