ASA Takes a Closer Look at William Hill
Britain's Advertising Standards Authority is taking a closer look at William Hill plc as a result of adverts from March and April in the Racing Post and The Daily Mirror. The Authority determined that the odds quoted in each were misleading and ordered that the adverts were not republished. Both the statements “prices subject to fluctuation” and “prices correct at 5pm yesterday” were not enough to deem the ads compliant. A complaint was filed because one reader believed the following was misleading: "6/1 SIR DES CHAMPS TO WIN THE CHELTENHAM GOLD CUP" and "4/1 THE NEW ONE TO WIN THE JOHN SMITH'S AINTREE HURDLE".
