Europa League: Swansea reach play-off round
Swansea managed to book a place in the Europa League play-off round by securing a goalless draw in Malmo to seal a 4-0 aggregate win. The Welsh team was unable to produce a great performance but they did enough to control the second leg. They had a pair of good chances as Jonathan de Guzman had a shot cleared off the line while a close offside call denied Wilfried Bony. The solid 4-0 first-leg win allowed Swans boss Michael Laudrup to make seven changes to his team for the second leg at the Swedbank Stadion. Strikers Michu and Bony, who scored in the first leg, started up front while former Real Betis pair Jose Canas and Alejandro Pozuelo were in the starting line up for the first time since joining the Welsh club. Pawel Cibicki had the first chance of the match for Malmo right at the team's first attack of the game but his shot went inches wide of the far post. Swansea replied through Michu who fired just over the bar before squandering another chance when he was blocked by goalkeeper Johan Dahlin. Wayne Routledge also went close when he fired just wide of the far post while Bony managed to find the back of the net but his goal was ruled offside. The second half didn't offer much excitement, Swansea controlled the game and De Guzman could have handed them the win late on but his shot was cleared off the line by Pontus Jansson. Swansea are 20/1 at Bet365 to finish in the Premier League top six this season.
