Transfer News: Real Madrid admit they are negotiating for Gareth Bale
New Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti admitted for the first time that the club are in talks to sign Tottenham star Gareth Bale. Ancelotti's comments follow reports that Real are preparing a record-breaking bid for Bale, in excess of the world record £80m fee they paid to Manchester United for Cristiano Ronaldo in 2011. Ancelotti said during a news conference: "I believe the club is in talks to find a solution and we will see what happens." Bale's agents told Spurs last weekend that the player wants to speak to Madrid. However, it is still unclear whether Real Madrid have submitted a formal bid or not. Ancelotti, who took charge of Real Madrid earlier this summer after leaving Paris St-Germain, was asked during a news conference in Los Angeles about the possibility of signing Bale. "It is difficult to talk about Bale because he is not a Real Madrid player at present," the Italian coach replied. "I have never spoken to him. I do not usually talk to players who are not from my team and it would not be fair to do so." However, Ancelotti rejected the idea of letting Luka Modric go to Tottenham as part of the Gareth Bale transfer package. "It is not true that Modric is going," he said. "He is a very important player for us and he will be here this season." Real Madrid have already spent more than £50m this summer, bringing Spanish midfielders Asier Illarramendi from Real Sociedad and Malaga's Isco for £34m and £23m respectively. They also brought back Dani Carvajal from Bayer Leverkusen and signed Brazilian midfielder Casemiro on a permanent basis. So, the Bale transfer saga goes on, here are the odds on which will be his club on September 3rd at Bet365: Real Madrid - 1/4 Tottenham - 11/4 Manchester United - 20/1 PSG - 33/1 Monaco - 40/1
