Premier League: Cardiff break club transfer record for Steven Caulker
Newly-promoted Premier League side Cardiff have signed England international defender Steven Caulker from Tottenham for a club record fee, just over 8 million pounds. Caulker, aged 21, spent a season on loan with Swansea City in 2011-12, making 26 appearances and contributing to the Swans' survival in the Premier League. Caulker said: "I'm delighted to be here and excited for this fresh challenge. You get the sense of excitement from everybody at the club and I'm really looking forward to being part of it." Steven Caulker, who scored against Sweden in his only appearance for England, is Cardiff's fourth signing of the summer and the club's second record signing of the summer. The previous record was set when striker Andreas Cornelius moved from FC Copenhagen for £7.5m. Cardiff have also signed Derby County defender John Brayford and Brentford goalkeeper Simon Moore. The Welsh club will continue to strengthen the club, there are negotiations ongoing with Toulouse over the potential transfer of midfielder Etienne Capoue. Cardiff also wanted to sign Thomas Ince but the young winger decided to stay with Blackpool rather than move to the Welsh club. Despite the new signings Cardiff are still prime candidates for relegation from the Premier League according to the bookmakers, here are some of the odds for the "to be relegated" market at Bet365: Crystal Palace - 4/9 Hull - 8/13 Cardiff - 7/4 Norwich - 3/1 Stoke - 3/1
