MLB Suspensions May be Announced on Friday
Major League Baseball has announced the players that face suspension resulting from the recent drug investigation that has swept the league. Some will sit out while other will receive heftier punishments for the roles played in the Biogenesis case. All parties involved are trying their very best to reach some sort of agreements in an attempt to avoid grievance hearings so we may not know what's happening until Friday. On Tuesday, the union sat down with the MLB which was a good indicator that the discussions are nearing their end. The league hopes to hand down the penalties for the offending players soon. New York Yankees player and three-time MVP, Alex Rodriguez is believed to have the heftiest suspension coming his way. For a first time offender the punishment is typically a 50 game suspension but some players will receive stiffer penalties because of additional violations and their dishonesty during the investigation. The three All-Stars this season that may be banned include Texas outfielder Nelson Cruz, San Diego shortstop Everth Cabrera and Detroit shortstop Jhonny Peralta.
