Police Search for Evidence as New England Patriots’ Aaron Hernandez Faces Murder Charges
Police are still trying to connect New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez to the June 17th murder of Odin Lloyd. They are day two of scouring a nearby lake for evidence. Connecticut State Police have sent in a dive team and employed metal detectors to search. Police have not indicated what they are searching for but they did say that the search was initiated by a tip from someone. The tip came in a week ago and said police should search the lake for clues. Hernandez is on trial for the murder of Lloyd, a 27-year-old Dorchester man, who was gunned down in a North Attleborough industrial park. He has entered a plea of not guilty and is currently being held without bail. Police say that the murder weapon was a .45-caliber pistol and it has yet to be found. There are two other men arrested in relations to this case, Carlos Ortiz, 27, and Ernest Wallace, 41. The men are sitting in a Massachusetts jail. Ortiz was charged with firearms possession while Wallace is charged with being an accessory to murder after the fact. Wallace is the only one given bail which was set at $500,000 last week.
