Bookmakers to Keep Funding PPF
The funding partnership between the Professional Players Federation (PPF) and bookmakers bet365, Betfair and Ladbrokes has been renewed and extended for another three years. Thanks to this extension, player associations will get the necessary funding which will make it possible to finance education initiatives on sports betting integrity and the prevention of match fixing for some 7 500 professional sportsmen and women in the UK. According to the UK Minister for Sport, the Rt Hon Hugh Robertson MP, “I welcome this partnership between the Professional Players Federation and the betting industry that will help safeguard sport from cheats. Educating players on betting integrity is a vital tool in the fight against corruption.” Another comment on the deal came from John Coates, Joint CEO of bet365 and Chairman of the Remote Gambling Association, who said: “The leading betting operators understand the need for sport and the betting industry to work collaboratively to help safeguard sports integrity and so we're pleased to be a part of this effort.” “The funding from bet365, Betfair and Ladbrokes will help us to continue to make sure that British sportsmen and women are some of the best educated in the world about the dangers of match fixing,” added Brendon Batson MBE, Chairman of the PPF.
