Transfer News: Juventus to sign Carlos Tevez
Manchester City and reigning Serie A champions Juventus have agreed a deal for striker Carlos Tevez to join the Italian side in a transfer worth up to £12m. City accepted an offer of £10m that could be increased by 2 million pounds with add-ons. The Argentinian international forward is in Italy on Wednesday for a medical and to discuss personal terms and then, if all goes well, put pen to paper on a three-year contract. Manchester City will save a lot of money by selling Tevez, if you combine the transfer fee with wages and bonuses due to the player the club would save around 27 million pounds. The two clubs reached an agreement at a meeting in London on Tuesday. Tevez had signed a five-year contract when he joined the Citizens in 2009 after previously playing for arch rivals Manchester United. City paid the player's advisors, who owned his contract, a fee around 25 million pounds, but some sources have claimed that the sum was closer to 50 million pounds. Tevez has made 148 appearances for the club, scoring 74 goals, but the relationship with former manager Roberto Mancini went sour in 2011 when the player was fined and suspended following an incident in a Champions League match against Bayern Munich. City will be looking for a replacement but they have revealed they will not pay the £53m asking price for Napoli forward Edinson Cavani. Manchester City are 9/4 to win the Premier League next season at Bet365 while Juventus are 8/11 to defend the Italian Serie A title next season.
